LGBT families and allies share their hopes for the future

Among seahorse-patterned blankets and blue buckets full of snacks, LGBT families and their allies kicked off 2015 New York City Pride with Family Movie Night on Wednesday.

While Pride events aren't typically known as kid-friendly spaces, Family Movie Night was created especially for families. It's a little break from the 21-and-over, exclusive atmosphere of festivities to come, and a time to celebrate Pride with those who matter most: family.

This year, families gathered at Pier 63 at Hudson River Park to watch Finding Nemo. Kids like Lucas, who loves his two dads even more than Marlin loves Nemo, got their Pride moment complete with candy, rainbow cake and lots of swag.

To help celebrate, we asked Family Movie Night attendees to tell us their hopes for LGBTpeople, families and themselves in the future. Here's what they had to say.
